Powder Coating

Powder coating is a highly protective and versatile metal finishing solution for aluminium, mild steel and galvanized steel. Powder is paint in dry powder form. It is sprayed onto a specially prepared metal surface using spray 'guns' in our state-of-the-art plant in Corby.

Powder coating brings many benefits as a metal finishing system:

  • Excellent weather resistance, protecting the metal from damage and corrosion.
  • Excellent colour stability and consistency.
  • All powder coatings give good edge coverage.
  • Low risk of toxicity, smoke emission and flaming droplets  in the event of fire.
  • Environmentally 'green'.
  • Wide ranging advantages over wet paint.
  • All powder coatings are Qualicoat class 1 or class 2 approved and conform to BS EN 12206-1 and Z31 specifications.

Powder particles pass through the spray guns and pick up an electrostatic charge which attracts them to the metal substrate. The coating is heat cured to form a smooth hard skin of uniform thickness on the surface of the metal.

Powders come in a wide range of colours and textures. Gloss levels range from standard matt (30%), satin (60%), gloss (70%) to high gloss (80%). All +/- 5%. Applied film thickness is a minimum of 40 microns and up to 200 microns for thermoplastic powders. For more detail see Finishes and Collections.

We only use premium architectural polyester powder coatings and pre-treatment chemicals from highly regarded manufacturers, offering a proven product with technical support.
