I stopped to take this photo to illustrate the danger of poor specification, a subject close to my heart.
The problem is obvious, caused by poor specification and application of paintwork and it has a real effect on the look of a building, affecting both the owners and occupiers.
The pre-coated cladding has lasted well but the closing angles and cappings are failing due to poor or non-existent pre-treatment. The result is a building which I must admit would never win an RIBA prize but never the less it lets itself down.
The lesson I take from this is that it IS worth making sure that your specifications are correct and that the money IS available to ensure that they are met.
