Reaction to Fire
Our powder coatings meet strict fire safety regulations
Powder coatings are a dry powder with no solvents and therefore no harmful volatile organic compounds. The fumes, on burning, from powder coatings have very low toxicity and a low rate and density of smoke generation. Thermoplastic (acid modified polyolefin) powder coatings also have high electrical and thermal resistance, suitable for cable conduits around underground rail tracks. Powder coating is not considered as detrimental to the fire resistance of the underlying metal.
Architectural powder coating materials meet all current fire regulations, including Reaction to Fire Specification A2-s1, d0.
All of the standard colour archiectural quality powders that we use meet all current fire regulations, including A2-s1, d0 specification. Where Reaction to Fire is a project requirement Powdertech use specific application techniques and enhanced measurement records to evidence compliance.
Powdertech finishes, Satellite, Wood finish and Evolution have all been certified A2-S1, d0 in September 2023. Summary documents are in the data sheet records.
