Vibrant Powdertech ‘Sahara’ rust-effect finish for new-look Kettering
Overview
2020 saw the beginning of a major cultural and historically-led regeneration programme within Kettering town centre, it’s focus being on the restoration of disused and dilapidated buildings to create a vibrant community of new homes, shops, workplaces and open spaces. The project represented a total investment of £8.3 million over 4 years, which is the largest investment in the town centre since the redevelopment of the market place over 10 years ago.
The Project
Powdertech became involved in November 2021, providing samples of our Evolution ‘Sahara’ rust-effect finish to the main contractor, Balfour Beatty. Project designers were seeking an ‘on-trend’ metal finish but one that would also complement historical aspects within the town.
From sending a small sample colour swatch to the designers, the project grew into a multi-disciplinary contract with Powdertech applying Sahara to art installations, planters, bollards, railings and street furniture for a number of local metalwork companies.
The Kettering project has proved to be a valuable opportunity, both to display our powder coating expertise locally and to demonstrate the flexibility of the Evolution range of finishes across different materials, designs and applications.
