Sun's up, strip off

It may feel like the summer is fast disappearing over the horizon, holidays are just a memory and suntans are fading already but the effects of the summer heat can be more than just a little sunburn.

Packing of powder coated material is very important to protect it during transport and storage but it is important to remember that if the packaging is left in the sun, the plastic wrap can trap heat and moisture and create a greenhouse effect with internal temperatures rising rapidly. The potential effects are bleaching of the coating (this is reversible) and releasing of adhesive from wrap-film onto the powder coated surface. My advice is that when you store wrapped material you do 2-things:

Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.

Open the outer packaging to allow heat to escape.

Now the autumn and winter are approaching next summer may feel like a long way off but when you are planning your own summer holiday remember to plan for the storage of powder coated material.
