Powder Coating

Powder coating is a highly protective and versatile metal finishing solution for aluminium, mild steel and galvanized steel. Powder is paint in dry powder form. It is sprayed onto a specially prepared metal surface using spray 'guns' in our state-of-the-art plant in Corby.

Powder coating brings many benefits as metal finishing system:

  • Excellent weather resistance, protecting the metal from damage and corrosion.
  • Excellent colour stability and consistency.
  • Good edge coverage.
  • Low risk of toxicity in the event of fire.
  • Environmentally 'green'.
  • Wide ranging advantages over wet paint.
  • All powders are Qualicoat class 1 or class 2 approved and conform to ISO 12206 and Z31 specifications.

Powder particles pass through the spray guns and pick up an electrostatic charge which attracts them to the metal substrate. The coating is heat cured to form a smooth hard skin of uniform thickness on the surface of the metal.

Powders come in a wide range of colours and textures. Gloss levels range from standard matt (30%), satin (60%), gloss (70%) to high gloss (80%). All +/- 5%. Applied film thickness is a minimum of 40 microns and up to 200 microns for thermoplastic powders. For more detail see Finishes and Collections.

We only use premium architectural polyester powders and pre-treatment chemicals from highly regarded manufacturers, offering a proven product with technical support.
