Bee Bus Stops powder coated by Powdertech Corby

Powdertech Corby powder coated the delightful ‘Bee Bus Stops’, installed throughout the city of Leicester. The finish is a bespoke polyester powder coating Bristol Blue/Black.

Leicester City Council installled Living Roof and solar-powered shelters as part of a project to revamp all its bus shelters. These were the first for any UK city, their objective being to respond to the climate emergency by reducing the ‘Urban Heat Island Effect’,

Designed by Clear Channel, and made by CMF, the Living Roofs, affectionally nicknamed ‘Bee Bus Stops’, are planted with a mix of wildflowers and Sedum plants.

The metal bus shelters supporting the roof-top gardens needed a high-performance coating that will withstand the water and flora run off without deterioration or discoloration. Powdertech’s finishes are all formulated to architectural standards and have excellent durability. A bespoke colour was created to the requirements of Leicester City Council – a blue/black matt finish.
